Deep-sea cage is a new type of aquaculture model，which has the advantages of advanced technology, environmentally friendly, and high quality of the fish farmed by it. Therefore, it plays an important role in promoting green development of aquaculture. Based on the introduction of the development of common cage and offshore cage in China and of deep-sea cage in other countries, this paper summarizes the development before and after 2017, the research progress, and the future development prospect of deep-sea cage in China. It is to serve as guidance to development of deep-sea cage aquaculture. The future of deep-sea cage farming is promising, while there is still a long way to go.
